Initial situation
When High Sensitivity Takes a Toll on Your Energy in Day-to-Day Management
Highly sensitive leaders often take on a great deal of responsibility. They contribute ideas, identify risks early on, pick up on the mood within the team, and strive to carry out tasks carefully and reliably. However, it is precisely these strengths that can drain a lot of energy in day-to-day work.
Perhaps you know this:
- They feel responsible for too many issues at once.
- You want to avoid mistakes and do things as well as possible.
- Your nervous system remains tense even after work.
- They get lost in the details or spend a long time thinking about conversations.
- They have the feeling that they have to constantly think, compensate or control.
- Others get annoyed by your attention to detail or don't understand your work style.
- Collaboration often takes more energy than the actual technical work.
You may recognize yourself as a highly sensitive leader or notice parallels with characteristics of autism or other forms of neurodiversity. However, what matters most is not a diagnosis, but your day-to-day work life and the question of how you can effectively manage your unique way of perceiving, thinking, and leading.
Through coaching, we’ll work together to develop a better understanding of your inner dynamics. You’ll recognize recurring patterns, strengthen your self-management skills, and develop strategies for handling challenging leadership situations, which, in the long run, leads to greater clarity and less internal pressure.
Coaching approach
Self-Management for Highly Sensitive Leaders
In coaching, we examine specific situations from your day-to-day work life. This helps reveal what happens internally and externally during stressful moments.
We look at this, for example:
- When do you take on too much responsibility?
- Which inner drivers become active?
- What happens in your nervous system in stressful situations?
- What dynamics emerge within the team?
- What patterns keep recurring?
- Which parts try to establish control, perfection or adaptation?
- Which aspects tend to recede or become particularly self-critical?
This leads to a more nuanced understanding of your own way of working.
Over time, you will develop an inner sense of direction that will help you perceive, contextualize, and shape future challenges more consciously.
The goal is not to change your sensitivity.
The goal is to strengthen your self-management skills.
Step by step, you’ll develop greater inner clarity, recognize recurring patterns, and learn to act more consciously, even under pressure.
Building on this, we develop concrete strategies for your day-to-day leadership, communication, and collaboration.

1. Getting to know each other
In a free video call, we check whether the chemistry is right. We talk about your overarching goal for the coaching, my approach and our expectations.
2nd kick-off meeting
We clarify the coaching goals and discuss how we want to organize the collaboration. Once the basics have been clarified, we can start working on the content.
3. decision
After the kick-off meeting, we decide whether and how we will continue working. If necessary, we record the framework conditions in a brief coaching agreement.
4. accompaniment
We work with suitable methods and impulses as part of an individual coaching process that is geared towards your topics and goals.

Coach
Who accompanies the coaching?
I am an industrial and organizational psychologist and am highly sensitive myself. From my own experience, I know how enriching—and at the same time challenging—having heightened sensitivity can be in everyday work life. That is why I combine psychological expertise with systemic coaching approaches and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Highly sensitive leaders often have a keen intuition for people, contexts, and moods. At the same time, high personal standards, intense processing of stimuli, or the feeling of being responsible for so many things can drain a lot of energy in everyday work life. From my own experience, I know how challenging it can be to keep your own needs and boundaries in mind while doing all of this.
Coaching is about understanding how you perceive, react, and make decisions. Together, we’ll identify recurring patterns and develop a self-management approach that fits your personality and your day-to-day leadership responsibilities.
I work with professionals and leaders who want to leverage their sensitivity as a strength, gain a better understanding of their inner patterns, and lead with clarity and authenticity—even in challenging situations.

Coaching requires stability and the ability to reflect, and it is not a substitute for psychotherapy in cases of mental health conditions such as severe depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, or other clinical disorders.
If you are experiencing acute psychological distress or need therapeutic support, psychotherapy is the appropriate course of action. You can find psychotherapists in the Psyfinder of the FSP.
What happens if I realize after the kick-off meeting that it's not a good fit?
Chemistry and mutual trust are the basis for successful coaching. The kick-off meeting explicitly serves as Test field. If you (or I) realize afterwards that my way of working or the setting is not optimally suited to your concerns, the process ends at this point. In this case, only the individual session will be charged according to the conditions for the kick-off session and there will be no further obligations.
